LOIE FULLER

Beyond the Bauhaus, Loie Fuller also used textile and light as technology to push the limits of the human form and abstract the body through choreography of movement, pattern, and illusion. Her manipulation of fabric as an extension of the human (feminine) body, emphasizes the idea that the entity exists beyond the limitations of the physical form and is defined by its relationship with the space it inhabits. The spatiality and abstraction of dance inspires ideas of organizing and choreographing architecture as collective movements and patterns.
