“WOVEN DREAMS”

SCHLEMMER X ALBERS

The theater performance by Oskar Schlemmer, influenced by the materials, textile techniques, and weaving structures developed by Anni Albers, is a mesmerizing and innovative spectacle that combines movement, color, and texture in a dynamic and immersive experience. The performers, dressed in costumes also designed by Oskar Schlemmer using Anni Albers' textile techniques, enter the stage, moving in a precise and choreographed manner. The costumes are made from woven fabrics that mimic the patterns and textures of the backdrop, creating a seamless integration between the performers and the set. The weaving structures developed by Anni Albers are prominently showcased throughout the performance, with the performers incorporating weaving gestures and movements into their choreography. They create intricate patterns and textures with their bodies, mimicking the weaving process in a mesmerizing display of movement and textile artistry.

THE PANELS ARE WOVEN WITH A VARIETY OF MATERIALS, INCLUDING SILK, WOOL, AND COTTON, AND FEATURE BOLD GEOMETRIC PATTERNS AND VIBRANT COLORS, CREATING A VISUALLY CAPTIVATING ENVIRONMENT.

AS THE PERFORMANCE PROGRESSES, THE PERFORMERS INTERACT WITH THE TEXTILE PANELS, WEAVING THEMSELVES IN AND OUT OF THE PANELS, AND USING THEM AS PROPS AND EXTENSIONS OF THEIR MOVEMENTS.

THE PANELS ARE SUSPENDED FROM THE CEILING, CREATING A THREE-DIMENSIONAL INSTALLATION THAT SERVES AS BOTH SET AND BACKDROP FOR THE PERFORMANCE.

THE PERFORMERS, DRESSED IN COSTUMES ALSO DESIGNED BY OSKAR SCHLEMMER USING ANNI ALBERS' TEXTILE TECHNIQUES, ENTER THE STAGE, MOVING IN A PRECISE AND CHOREOGRAPHED MANNER.

THE PERFORMANCE REACHES ITS CLIMAX WITH A BREATHTAKING FINALE, WHERE THE PERFORMERS WEAVE THEMSELVES INTO A GRAND TAPESTRY, CREATING A LIVING WORK OF ART ON STAGE.
